Over the years, I have served as the course coordinator for sometimes EEE342 (Control Engineering) and lately EEE111 (Analog Electronics). The task of a course coordinator is to ensure coordination among multiple sections of that course, meeting up with the faculty members of the course, ensuring a certain level of consistency in terms of assessment difficulty level, topics covered etc. The course coordinator is also responsible for ensuring the preparation of the BAETE files in each sections, collecting them at the end of the semester and preparing course level observations based on the individual section level observations.
This was a manageable task when I used to be the EEE342 coordinator, a course which usually has 2 or 3 sections at most. EEE111, on the other hand, had 18 sections in Spring 2023 and 19 sections in Summer 2023! The sections are taught by full time and part time faculty members, meeting up and coordinating with whom takes a non-trivial amount of time and effort.
Summer 2023
Here I will keep record my course coordination efforts to keep track of my work as well as motivate me further to complete the task in an efficient manner.
24/08/2023 : Compiled a list of faculty member names and initials of the 19 EEE111 Sections, while sitting at Faculty Assistant Kanta Apa’s office. Kanta Apa also kindly provided my with the contact info of all part-time and full-time faculty members. Started processing them in one document upon returning home. (40 mins)
25/08/2023: Continued processing the document and collecting the class hours and lab hours of each section. It is observed that many faculty members have theory and lab classes in completely different days, spanning 3 days. It might be difficult for our respected part-time faculty members to come to NSU the third day and attend the mandatory one hour of lab. Must bring this into dept’s attention. ( 40 mins)
